View Related Documents

The left sidebar lists Documents in context. What you see depends on where you opened the editor.

From a parent Salesforce record (Account, Opportunity, etc.)

The sidebar lists Documents linked to that record: what your team attached or created from this page.

From the expanded view of a Document opened from Folio Home

When you open a Document from the Folio Home page, the sidebar shows related Documents that share at least one linked record with the Document you’re viewing, in a network-style view.

The Document you initially clicked from Folio Home becomes the anchor Document, and the relationships that pull other Documents into the sidebar all originate from that anchor. For example, if your anchor Document is linked to both an Opportunity and an Account, the sidebar will list every other Document that shares that Opportunity or that Account, giving you the surrounding context without leaving the page.

Interactions

  • Open: click a row to open the Document in the editor. The active Document is highlighted.
  • Collapse: toggle to close the left sidebar as a left drawer, giving the editor more horizontal room. The sidebar can be re-opened by clicking the icon in the upper-left of the Document editor.
  • Star: starred Documents rise to the top. Stars are per user, so when you mark a Document as starred or unstarred, that updates the star for you specifically anywhere in the org. So if you star a Document from Folio Home and later find the same Document linked under an Account page, it will be starred there too.
  • Drag-and-drop sorting: when viewing Documents under a parent record (such as on an Account record page), the left sidebar of related Documents is sortable with an easy drag-and-drop interaction. You can also drag-and-drop Documents in the sidebar from the starred section to the non-starred section (or vice versa), which will also update the star setting for that Document at the same time.
    • The sort order of Documents in the sidebar is only saved in the context in which it takes place. For example, if you drag and drop to sort Documents in the sidebar under the context of Account A, then later find the same Document from Folio Home, the sort order is not applied in the view from Folio Home, because the sort order is saved only for the context where you applied it. When you go back to Account A, the sort order you set will be preserved.
    • You cannot drag-and-drop Documents in the sidebar from the Folio Home expanded view, only from the context of a parent record.
  • Actions (context menu or right-click): Rename, Clone (copy content, same links), Delete (hard delete or archive per admin settings).

New Document

The New Document option in the sidebar covers two flows:

  • New Document: creates a blank Document linked to your current parent record context.
  • New from Template: lets you choose a template, choose a source record, and then create the new Document from that template. See Create Documents from Templates for the full walkthrough.
